A Form of Support Called Wastra Katresnan
As part of its commitment to supporting local brand creativity, Novotel Suites Yogyakarta Malioboro regularly holds an event called Wastra Katresnan. True to its name, wastra meaning “cloth” and katresnan meaning “love” in Sanskrit so Wastra Katresnan reflects a deep appreciation for nusantara (Indonesia) textiles. The event serves as an exhibition celebrating the artistry and cultural heritage of nusantara fabrics.

Launched in 2023, Wastra Katresnan provides a space for collaboration with local designers, allowing them to present their work on the fashion show or fashion runway.

Through this initiative, each local designer is free to express their creativity without limitations whether in patterns, colors, or styles. The showcased outfits are diverse, ranging from dresses, outerwear, shirts, to trousers, designed for adults, teenagers, and children alike.

Fashion Show Wastra Katresnan Vol. 10
After the successful launch of Wastra Katresnan volumes 1 through 9, Novotel Suites Yogyakarta Malioboro held Volume 10 on October 12, 2025, in celebration of National Batik Day. This edition of Wastra Katresnan collaborated with the Toony Muah Project to present a visual experience that blends the elegance of batik with modern creative expression.
